We are looking for an Accounts Assistant on behalf of our client based in Harrogate who have a built a great reputation for their services across the UK. The client does not necessarily require someone with Accounting qualifications as full training will be provided, but you will ideally have 1-2 years’ experience within a similar position in order to make the transition seamless. Your role will primarily focus on the general day to day processes within the business with the opportunity to assist the Finance Controller in the monthly processing and reporting tasks. You will also be expected to carry out any ad-hoc Accounts related tasks to support the wider team and there is the exciting prospect of being able to train in Management Accounts Assistance to further broaden the position.

As a successful Accounts Assistant your duties will include:

  • Daily banking and reconciliations
  • Regular bank reconciliations on the NAV System
  • Monitoring and processing refunds
  • Processing monthly expenses
  • Support to purchase ledger role including and not limited to reconciliations and invoice processing
  • Support to sales ledger role
  • Assisting with travel and orders
  • Systems housekeeping within the Accounts Team and other ad-hoc tasks
  • Audit preparation assistance
  • Month End preparation assistance

 

Key skills and experience required: 

  • Broad experience in an Accounts function covering Cashbook, sales ledger, purchase ledger with elements of Management Accounts
  • Experience of working under pressure to meet processing deadlines
  • Strong communicator between internal and external parties
  • Experience with the use of NAV and CRM systems would be preferred but if not, initiative to learn and ask questions is a must
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality
  • Team player who can also work independently
  • Positive ‘can-do’ attitude to learning
  • Self-awareness of time management and organisational skills, with the ability to plan ahead in all aspects of this role
