Our fantastic new client based in the Malton area is a world class engineering and design excellence leader and due to expansion is seeking an additional Quantity Surveyor with structural steel experience.

Main Purpose of Role
To support and assist the Quantity Surveying department to ensure that the commercial and contractual aspects of projects are properly managed and controlled to an efficient manner to meet the demands of the business.

Main Duties (Non Exhaustive)
Ability to Identify, communicate and quantify commercial risks and opportunities, including preparation and submission of variations/compensation events, extension of time and loss and/or expense claims, including submission of associated notices
Ability to carry out the re-measurement of quantities in accordance with standard methods and procedures
Provide assistance, support and guidance on commercial issues and developing a culture of contractual awareness in project teams
Preparation of interim valuations/ applications for payment including negotiating project final accounts
Produce internal cost/ value reports
Administrate subcontractor/supplier accounts, including the monitoring and processing of payments and settlement of final accounts
Preparation of technical estimates
Evaluation of hours allowed at tender stage and reconciliation of hours worked within the fabrication process

Required Skills & Experience:

Computer literate with Microsoft experience – Word, Excel etc
Ability to communicate at all levels both internally and externally
Ability to work as part of a team or independently
Excellent negotiation skills
Have the ability to influence all stake holders
Previous experience in working to and achieving deadlines and set targets
To have a proven track record of delivering on large scale projects in a Quantity Surveying role
Self-motivated and able to work under your own initiative to manage their day to day work load
Experience in commercial management of sub-contractors, valuations and final account negotiations
Good knowledge of JCT and NEC3 forms of contract
Ability to use/understand financial reports and final accounts

Desirable:
Experience of working in a commercial setting
Experience of working within a Construction environment or setting
Experience of working with sub-contractors
Familiar with Strumis package
Candidates must have experience/a working background in Structural Steel
